Sifuna's Digital Economy Plan: 1 Million Jobs by 2030
Senator Edwin Sifuna
June 10, 2025
Senator Edwin Sifuna has unveiled an ambitious plan to create 1 million tech and digital economy jobs by 2030. The plan centers on three pillars:
1. FREE CODING BOOTCAMPS IN ALL 47 COUNTIES
Every county will have at least one fully equipped digital innovation hub offering free coding bootcamps, digital marketing training, and data science courses. These hubs will be partnerships between the government, tech companies, and universities.
2. KSH 50 BILLION YOUTH STARTUP FUND
A dedicated startup fund will provide seed capital, mentorship, and market access to young Kenyan entrepreneurs building technology solutions. The fund will prioritize innovations that solve local problems — from agriculture to healthcare to financial inclusion.
3. GLOBAL TECH PARTNERSHIPS
Kenya will actively court major global tech companies to establish regional headquarters in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu. Special economic zones for tech companies will offer tax incentives, infrastructure support, and access to a skilled workforce.
The digital economy is the future. Kenya has the talent. Senator Sifuna's plan provides the infrastructure and support to unleash that talent on the world stage.
